Best of Swiss Apps Awards 2020: 4 awards for Bitforge

After being very successful at last year ‘s Best of Swiss and even winning second place with LIstory in the master vote for App of the Year 2019, we thought we had a good chance again this year: All four projects submitted were shortlisted and thus cleared the first hurdle on the way to the award.

The Murten diorama in the National Museum Zurich depicts an important moment in the history of Switzerland: The Battle of Murten in 1476, in which the Confederates defeated the Burgundian Duke Charles the Bold, thereby gaining a reputation as a feared military power far beyond the country’s borders.

The diorama consists of over 6,000 tin soldiers representing the battle in various phases. So we set out to breathe some life into the static soldiers with the help of augmented reality. The resulting iPad app has since become part of the permanent exhibition at the National Museum.

This also convinced the jury of the Best of Swiss Apps Awards.

We are certain that AR is the next big step for the e-commerce industry. The pandemic-induced shift in shopping behavior from offline to online is further accelerating this development. With “Genie AR”, we developed a solution that enables online stores to make their products available in augmented reality quickly and easily. Completely on the web and without an app. And without converting the online store and without a complex IT project.

The concept also convinced the Best of Swiss Apps jury.
