First Swiss game for Windows Phone 7

Orbital is the first Swiss game to be released today for Windows Phone 7 – with a connection to the Microsoft Xbox LIVE online portal. The game from 100% Swiss development thus continues its success on a third major platform alongside iOS and Android.

Our team has been working closely with Microsoft over the last few weeks to not only port the game to the platform, but also to optimize all connections to Xbox LIVE. “The work with Microsoft was extremely professional. We were able to count on great support from them – both in terms of technology and marketing,” says our COO, Reto Senn. “Despite Microsoft’s rigorous testing procedures, the entire collaboration was extremely straightforward.” One achievement in particular is remarkable in view of this rather strict testing procedure: Orbital made it through final certification on the very first run, a process that normally requires several attempts to be approved by Microsoft.

The WP7 version now also includes Xbox LIVE Achievements, which players can use to collect game scores for their account. This makes Orbital the first Swiss mobile game to be officially featured by Microsoft and included in the Microsoft Marketplace. “We are very proud to have been given this great opportunity as a small Swiss company,” Reto continues. Switzerland therefore offers great potential when it comes to the development of games and software and is definitely in a position to establish itself in the global games market.

Orbital has been available for iOS for two years and has already enjoyed great success abroad. At the iPad keynote, Orbital was pre-installed on all demo devices, and even the New York Times mentioned the game in two articles. The game has also recently become available on Android, where it already has a large fan base. With the release for Windows Phone 7, we have now also taken on the third major platform in close cooperation with Microsoft.
