The pandemic has given digitalization an enormous boost in many areas. E-commerce and digital consulting services have grown strongly during this time – and are here to stay.
feey and Bitforge have teamed up to take this offering to the next level. The result was the “Remote AR Sales” project: a video call app with which customer advisors can present products to their customers live in AR in the living room.

Together with feey, we are revolutionizing online retail. With remote AR sales, we bring feey’s plants to customers before they buy them. This allows us to combine the advantages of online shopping with personal customer advice on site.
All that is needed for the virtual customer consultation is a tablet with a camera function. The customer films the premises to be furnished with plants, while the feey experts place the plants directly. This makes it possible to immediately see what the office or practice could look like in the future.
The “Remote AR Sales” app brings together what belongs together. Word has already got around that augmented reality can bridge the gap between online retail and the consumer at home. Now we have added an enormously important additional layer to this concept: That of personal advice from a specialist. This has enabled us to create a completely new, unprecedented form of interaction between companies and their customers.
The stage is the star: the app design is modern and functional and offers a clear, uncluttered user interface. The integration of high-quality modeled AR plants gives the customer the feeling of having brought the feey store directly to their home, which blurs the boundary between online shopping and reality.

The remote AR sales app was implemented with Unity, but we developed both the frontend and backend completely in-house.
Augmented reality video feeds based on WebRTC are at the heart of the application. This has the great advantage that all platforms are open to the application. There are also plans to expand to the web in the medium term.
The entire platform does not require cloud services (cloudless), but can be hosted in the cloud. However, it can also be installed on-premise and therefore meets the highest security requirements.
The application accesses the Yago AR Cloud to manage all 3D content. This is a cloud environment developed by us specifically for web-based AR applications, which allows AR content to be hosted and integrated into websites, online stores and mobile apps in the simplest possible way.
The app makes spatial boundaries disappear and leads to significantly better advice and sales talks.
