The ETH campus is full of exciting stories that hardly anyone knows. The ETH Tours app brings these stories out of the shadows and makes them available to everyone. Various tours guide interested visitors to the most exciting corners of the 150-year-old university.

The main building of ETH Zurich is an icon of the city of Zurich and its Polyterrasse has been one of the most popular vantage points for locals and tourists for years. But many people don’t know this: The ETH campus is not only more extensive and spread across the city, but also extremely steeped in history.

Through the ETH via mobile app
This story can be told with the ETH Tours app explore. The app offers three guided tours, past different stations and packed with interesting information. Videos, text, images and audio contributions bring interested people closer to various topics at ETH. For example, an hour with Albert Einstein in the main ETH building or a tour of the role of women in the university’s 150-year history at the Hönggerberg campus.
We have just completed the third tour for the app. The tour at ETH Zurich Center is entirely dedicated to the topic of agricultural sciences. Under the title “To the roots of our nutrition”, users spend about an hour exploring everything about how the field of agricultural science came to ETH.

New features for the app
ETH Tours takes the classic “audio guide” to a new level. All visitors need is their own cell phone. The knowledge is thus freely accessible to everyone at all times. Thanks to the numerous possibilities of smartphones, all forms of content preparation are supported and could also be used, for example, with augmented reality functions can be added.
With the latest update and the third tour, we have also revised the design and made minor adjustments. A new camera module has also been implemented.
