Apple’s window into another dimension
Apple is one of the last major IT companies to jump on the augmented reality bandwagon. Thanks to improving developer tools and the potential to permeate our everyday lives on countless levels, this is gathering pace. “Augmented reality (AR) has the potential to make it big,” says CEO Tim Cook. The big advantage over what we believe is currently the best AR solution – the Microsoft Hololens – is that the Apple solution works on iPhones and iPads without any additional hardware. By merging the camera data with the data from the motion sensor, the environment can be screened and virtual objects placed in 3D. However, there is a classic problem with AR-capable devices at the moment – too much light and too little contrast interfere with tacking.
Initially dismissed by many as a gimmick, augmented reality is increasingly becoming an integral part of everyday life in our future. The number of requests for AR is already increasing, as the field of application is immeasurable and the technology will soon be suitable for everyday use. Every iPhone from the iPhone 5S onwards and every iPad from the iPad Air onwards will support augmented reality (AR) in the future. Ask our experts how this can be used in your business.
