Congratulations Microsoft on the Hololens 2
We have been following developments in the augmented reality market for almost 10 years now. The competitive pressure on hardware manufacturers seems to be increasing year on year. Apple and Google have been two major players on the market for some time now, making augmented reality accessible to the masses via smartphones in the B2C market. In the B2B sector, which is primarily covered by head-mounted displays (HMDs for short), a race for "The Next Chapter" has also emerged in recent years. It is therefore all the more astonishing that one product has been the sole market leader in such a dynamic market for almost four years. Microsoft landed an unprecedented coup with the Hololens in 2015. The tech giant is building a unique AR and VR ecosystem with further mixed reality head sets. While the Magic Leap AR glasses were more of a shot across the bow of the Microsoft ship, the Hololens 2 is intended to be an unerring cannon for Magic Leap. Even if they focus on different target markets, technically they can and should be compared. Our CEO Reto Senn found out what new "superpowers" the new augmented reality glasses Hololens 2 brings with it directly on site at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona.
