Smart travel on public transport
With the new ZVV app, the two existing apps for checking timetables and buying tickets have been merged. The result is a comprehensive and modern service and sales channel for around 400,000 users in the network area.
We carried out comprehensive user testing for the project and developed the app concept based on this.

The design of the app was consistently developed according to a user-centered approach. In order to meet the needs of all user groups, extensive user research was carried out during the design phase:
Important results from the user research were in particular the focus on the core business and the focus on essential functions according to the 80:20 rule.
Extensive usability walkthroughs and usability tests were carried out throughout the entire project. The UX concept was constantly reviewed and refined in various iterations.
The new ZVV app moves elegantly between these two poles: Appealing, modern, innovative but still intuitively understandable. The design is based on Material Design, which allowed a great deal of creative freedom in the creation process but still builds on proven principles.
Where previously two different apps handled timetable queries and ticketing separately, we designed a new standalone solution that meets all the needs of public transport users in the ZVV network area.
"The completely revamped ZVV app is clean and clearly laid out and has a lot of nice little details."
