AR in eCommerce: From a nice feature to the main stage with Yago Deck
Augmented reality has already established itself in various online stores and is part of the standard offering for customers. However, this is usually as a feature on the page and only for one product at a time – current tools do not yet allow for more. We have given some thought to what the future of AR shopping could look like. Clear the stage for “Yago Deck!”

Set up your living room or office completely in AR until you like it and then order everything directly? Until now, this was not possible without a dedicated mobile app. Each individual piece of furniture had to be placed separately in AR and the overall picture of the carpet, table, sofa and wall decoration required imagination. However, the technology has now made further leaps forward and WebXR is opening up new possibilities.
Yago Deck: Our proposal for what eCommerce could look like
With our AR solution Yago we already cover a wide range of augmented reality possibilities for industry and eCommerce from. For example, “ifolor” recently launched the option of placing personalized images in AR in its store. With Yago Deck and the introduction of WebXR, we have now gone one step further.
In a first prototype, we demonstrate the possibilities of WebXR for a web store that functions entirely in augmented reality. Plants can be selected from a catalog and placed directly together and next to each other in the room. Products can be removed and new ones added and the shopping cart is constantly updated. If the result is right and the user is satisfied with the arrangement, all it takes is a click to proceed to the shopping cart and payment.

The classic shopping experience is thus merging with online shopping and opening up countless other possibilities. For example, stores can also make their own furnishing suggestions, which the user can then customize. Users can browse through the products and playfully add, remove and reposition new products. The options offered by WebXR are almost endless and no one knows yet where the future will take us. Yago Deck is a glimpse into the eCommerce of the future as we envision it.

WebXR: Fewer restrictions and fewer specifications
WebXR also has the advantage that the interface works “device-independently” – whether for VR or AR applications. It is also all possible via a web browser and does not require any additional apps or tools, for example on a smartphone. WebXR also leaves the design freedom open for developers, whether in terms of execution, presentation or graphics.
WebXR was developed by Google, Microsoft and Mozilla. WebXR therefore currently only runs on the Android operating system. iOS has not yet implemented the functionalities of the interface on its devices – although according to rumors, this should happen soon. Then nothing will stand in the way of the future of eCommerce. In any case, we are already ready!
