Furnishing advice via AR tool: No longer reserved for the big furniture stores
Ikea recently launched a new service in the USA. Anyone who has no talent whatsoever when it comes to interior design can now leave this to the specialists, who will furnish the room in question with IKEA furniture in 3D. With our Yago Scenes tool, this interior design consultation is now also easily possible for small SMEs.

Redecorating a room can be challenging. Spatial imagination, creativity and an enormously good imagination when it comes to the interplay of colors, shapes and materials are usually the basis. It’s no wonder that many people find it difficult to redecorate and would love to hire someone to do it for them. But that is expensive!
Ikea launches virtual furniture consultation
Many large companies are aware of this issue. Ikea recently published a new service where customers can book an appointment for a furnishing consultation. The room to be furnished is recreated in 3D and then fitted with Ikea furniture by the Ikea team (of course). All customers then have to do is pull out their credit card and, if desired, the entire interior is not only delivered, but also assembled – and the showroom in their own living room is ready.
Of course, this new form of furniture advice involves a lot of effort that only large chains can afford – or so you would think. But it can also be simpler and cheaper and is therefore also interesting for small SMEs and online stores.
Yago Scenes: A simple and cost-effective solution for SMEs
Augmented reality is the obvious solution for anyone who can’t (or doesn’t want to) afford an interior designer and can’t (or doesn’t want to) do much with color theory or design trends. For companies, thanks to our Yago Scenes tool tool makes it possible to offer customers precisely this service and, of course, contact with the relevant specialists with little effort.
With Yago Scenes, customer advisors can set up entire rooms virtually or on site, display them in different scenes and compare them with each other. What does it take? Simply 3D models of the existing range. From sofas to plants, carpets or even heating installations – there are no limits to the application possibilities. Which color fits? Which size is right? This can be visualized in seconds.

Yago Deck: An entire store in AR
As soon as WebXR is implemented in the iOS operating system (which will hopefully be the case soon), we will go one better: With Yago Deck the entire online store can then be displayed in AR – so you can set up your room directly, try out the furniture and see how it looks, and go to the shopping cart and order with just one click.
Augmented reality can significantly improve the shopping experience for customers. Users of AR applications in eCommerce report lower return rates and higher satisfaction with the ordered product. In Switzerland ifolor has recently started offering augmented reality in its store. You can upload your own pictures and then place them on different canvas sizes on the wall in your own room.
In our opinion, the future of eCommerce clearly lies in augmented reality. More and more large corporations see it this way and are implementing their solutions accordingly. With Yago Scenes, we are making this technology accessible to small companies and online stores.
